Himalayan Hatha Yoga & Pranayama
YOUR WAY TO CLEANSE YOUR BODY AND ENERGIZE YOUR SOUL.
Himalayan Hatha Yoga & Pranayama
Himalayan hatha yoga is a strong and supportive style of yoga that works the entire body. It is based on traditional principals of yoga and different to Hatha in the way it uses Bandhas or ‘locks’, (for example diaphragm lock is sucking the stomach up and un after holding the breath out, stimulating the solar plexus chakra, lungs, diaphragm, and digestion) for a short period of time, unpredictability in sequence and breath work techniques.
Hatha
Hatha means sun and moon, yin and yang, the masculine and feminine parts within ourselves to create balance and unite opposites.
Sophie completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training in Tiruvannamalai, India at Ashok Tree Ashram with Yogi Ashokananda. She then moved back to London to start community yoga classes and on the way discovered her enthusiasium and drive for teaching yoga. In India, Sophie met and was inspired by fellow trainee Nikki Slade, a renowned Bhakti yoga teacher, and immersed herself in this practice also.
Since then she has been teaching one to one private yoga sessions and taught at a variety of yoga studios in London and Bath including David Llyod and Yoga Bodhi.
Sophie found that this profound practice helped guide people into a more relaxed physical and mental state as well as built strength, corrected misalignments and injuries. She continues her study with a variety of breathwork, Prana Kriya and other yoga related workshops.
Sophie believes yoga is a tool to connect with ourselves, to learn about separation and discipline, to create space, to use and build prana or life force energy, to overcome and recognise blockages, to balance the heart and mind and to let go of attachments. To detox the body, the most affective alkalizer is breathwork, pranayama.
Being a yoga teacher is not to simply teach yoga or asana, but to be a teacher involves a lot of responsibility, to hold space for any emotions that come up, to teach and be an example of integrity, determination, perseverance, and to give genuine praise and guidance with intention.
What My Clients Said About Me
“A quality yoga class has so much to do with the teacher and your connection with them. Sophie is so calm and conscious, her in-depth knowledge of the body and it’s workings play a huge part in her class as she twists and stretches muscles you didn’t know you had! It’s always a joy to attend one of Sophie’s classes and I feel invigorated after, it’s a complete workout for mind and body.”
“I’ve had both private classes and group classes with Sophie over the past year and have seen a massive improvement in my flexibility! Sophie always checks to see if anyone has any injury’s prior to the session and asks if I want to work on any particular muscle groups! Would highly recommend!!!”
