Pregnancy Yoga & Reflexology
YOUR WAY TO CLEANSE YOUR BODY AND ENERGIZE YOUR SOUL.
Reflexology is an ancient healing art dating back thousands of years and was first practiced by the early Indians, Chinese, Japanese and Egyptians.
A common technique used is thumb or finger walking which is applying pressure over an area of the foot or hands, specifically on the reflexes that correlate to different glands, organs, muscles and systems of the body to bring about a state of deep relaxation and healing. This is also coupled with various precise massage techniques.
Reflexology is based on the concept that there are zones and reflex areas in the feet and hands, which correspond to all glands, organs and systems of the body. The physical act of the practitioner applying pressure to these reflex areas may help to reduce stress, which promotes physiological changes in the body.
Since reflexology treats the whole person, not the symptoms of disease, most people benefit from treatment. Reflexology has a history of good results in treating many conditions such as stress and anxiety, headaches, insomnia, digestive issues, joint and muscle pain, menstrual issues, fertility, pregnancy and post natal recovery. Reflexology is a very safe treatment and is suitable for all ages.

FAQ
How often should I have a reflexology treatment?
This largely depends on the reason you are wanting reflexology, either for relaxation or to relieve symptoms of a specific condition.
The number of treatments you will need depends on what you are hoping to achieve.
If you are focused on a specific health issue I would recommend that you book four treatments over a four-week period. You should experience improvements within this time (although they can sometimes be felt much sooner).
If you are having treatments to promote general relaxation or health maintenance a session once a month is optimum but you can have sessions more or less frequently.
Is the treatment painful?
Generally the treatment is very relaxing however
if there is a blockage on a certain reflex point, there may be a bit of
discomfort for some people while this reflex is being worked. Thought
everyone has a different pain tolerance and the pressure is always checked
with the client throughout the treatment, the client can also say before the
treatment if they would rather a very light treatment which is perfectly fine.
You will still receive the benefits relaxation gives the body.
Should I do anything before or after the treatment?
It is advisable to not eat an hour before the treatment. After the treatment
the benefits are enhanced when you reflex after, not do any strenuous
exercise and to drink plenty of water to continue to flush the toxins out of
the body
Are there any cases where reflexology is not suitable?
There are very few cases where reflexology is unable to help, however it is
recommended that you consult your doctor before having a treatment if any
of the following apply to you:

Yoga during pregnancy can be so rewarding and comforting in the realms of physical release and ease, energy levels, emotional balance and gaining wisdom and insight.
We can not only improve sleep, stabilise and strengthen muscles, restore peace of the nervous system, mind and emotions, but in yoga during pregnancy we can experience Ananda which is bliss. A feeling of connectedness and peace with all things. Post-natally yoga can also be beneficial and aid in recovery as well as bonding with your baby.
My classes entail a range of techniques and exercises including asanas, mobility work and flowing movement, pranayama and breathwork, self-massage, pelvic floor exercises, yoga Nidra and meditation.
My aim is to provide a safe and enjoyable experience of yoga for mothers. To help them feel able and confident to go through all stages of pregnancy including labour, birth and postnatal recovery. Empowering mothers by connecting with their own inner wisdom and truth.

What My Clients Said About Me
“A quality yoga class has so much to do with the teacher and your connection with them. Sophie is so calm and conscious, her in-depth knowledge of the body and it’s workings play a huge part in her class as she twists and stretches muscles you didn’t know you had! It’s always a joy to attend one of Sophie’s classes and I feel invigorated after, it’s a complete workout for mind and body.”
“I can honestly say I’ve never had such a brilliant therapist! Sophie has a wonderfully calm, sunny and positive energy and attitude. Her extensive knowledge of reflexology is clearly reflected in her brilliant massage techniques.
I continued having weekly sessions with Sophie, right up until the day before I gave birth! After an amazing, positive birthing experience (much of which I feel was down to the regular reflexology sessions I had in my pregnancy – helping my mind and body prepare for birth) I have continued postnatally with our sessions and look forward very much to them every week! I can’t reccomend Sophie highly enough.”
